People expected LaMelo Ball to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. Things didn't necessarily go that way but he was still selected by the Charlotte Hornets with the third pick.

The youngest of the Ball Brothers is excited for the opportunity to be in the NBA, but especially because he gets to play under one of the greatest basketball players of all time in Michael Jordan.

“Man, straight blessing, for real,” Ball said of the current Hornets owner. “I don’t even have enough words to say, I’m just blessed.”

'Melo' has been making an impact in the basketball world since being a freshman in high school. Now, with more than 5 million followers on social media, he will give the Hornets the relevance they have missed over the last couple of years, especially after missing the playoffs in each of the last four seasons.

Charlotte fans should be excited as well, since LaMelo is expected to join great players in Terry Rozier, Devontae Graham, Miles bridges and PJ Washington. Even though it's a young core, there's no doubt that with Ball's passing ability and elite vision, the Hornets could become a playoff team in the Eastern Conference.

Even though he only played in 12 games, the 6'7 guard finished 17th in the NBL last season in scoring while playing for the Illawarra Hawks, averaging 17 points per game. LaMelo also averaged 7 rebounds and 7 assists per contest.

History was made in the 2020 NBA Virtual Draft, as LaMelo and his brother, Lonzo, who plays for the New Orleans Pelicans, became the first brothers to ever be drafted top 5 overall. Also, since LiAngelo Ball also plays for the G-League's Oklahoma City Blue, now all three brothers are signed to an NBA franchise.
