MLive.com reported that Warriors star, Draymond Green is donating 550 pairs of Converse shoes to Saginaw students at the First Ward Community Center.

Green signed a deal with Converse back in March, making him the brand's biggest NBA name since Dwyane Wade in 2009.

“Draymond has never forgotten where he comes from. He loves this city,” said Eric Henderson, who helps lead an education program at the center.

Green, who played at Saginaw High and Michigan State before winning three NBA championships with the Golden State Warriors, won’t be attending the event. Still, students were asked to pre-register at the Draymond Green Back-to-School Converse site.

“I’d rather he not come right now. I’d hate to put him in a situation where he ends up in a 14-day quarantine,” Henderson said. “Because of COVID-19, we can’t have everybody in the building. ... They don’t have to get out of their cars,” Henderson said.

During his days at Saginaw High, Green was a three-star recruit according to Rivals.com and graduated in 2008. He was also ranked as the 122nd best prospect in that class, behind names like Jrue Holiday, DeMar DeRozan, Marcus Morris, and many more.
