There was a lot of speculation surrounding DeMarcus Cousins following the Kings’ disappointing 2014-2015 season. It appeared that either Cousins or Coach George Karl would be out of Sacramento, but so far neither is the case. Seeing from their awkwardly long handshake at the Las Vegas summer league, tension between the two may have eased, and with the addition of Rajon Rondo, the Kings have formed a formidable roster.

Despite having Darren Collison and Rudy Gay playing alongside him, Boogie still racks up a ton of points and rebounds. Sacramento’s offseason moves, signing Rondo, Kosta Koufos and drafting Willie Cauley-Stein, won’t hurt Cousins’ fantasy stock. He’s still their go to player on offense and will remain that way. After last season, he’s cemented himself as a solid first-round pick in all fantasy basketball leagues.

Last season, he ranked top five in both points and rebounds, averaging 24.1 points and 12.7 rebounds per game. Cousins has been steadily improving, increasing his point and rebound totals annually. Unfortunately, his turnovers per contest have also risen, going from 3.5 a night to 4.3 between 2013-2014 and 2014-2015. Most big men limit their turnover count since they don’t handle the ball, but Cousins manages to give it up more than any other player in the league except for James Harden. Cousins, along with a few point guards on a fantasy roster together, means taking an L in the turnover category basically every week, forcing you to win five of the remaining eight categories in order to pull out the win.

If you’re willing to give up turnovers or simply be wary with who you draft after Cousins, his point and rebound numbers are better than any other player in the league and can singlehandedly win you the week. On top of points and boards, he averages 1.5 steals, 1.7 blocks, shoots 47 percent from the field and 78 percent from the line. Excluding turnovers, DMC has no weak categories and helps you across the board.

There is another catch with him, though. In his five-year career, Boogie hasn’t played every game of a season. One way or another, he’s missed games, whether from suspension, injury or, like last year, sickness. Out of the 82 games, he participated in just 59 of them, all of which he started. However, when he does play, he very rarely has an off night. Cousins ranked third in double-doubles with 47 last year behind Andre Drummond and Pau Gasol despite playing fewer games than them, and of the 59 games he did play, he was held to under 20 points only 14 times.
