The Sacramento Kings currently have Darren Collison slated to be their starting point guard going into next season. With that being said, rumors have been surrounding the Kings recently about the possibility of reuniting head coach George Karl with current Denver Nuggets starting point guard Ty Lawson. According to Chad Ford of ESPN, the Nuggets are actively trying to get that trade to go through.

There are a couple of issues with this from the Kings' side. First off, Sacramento already has an undersized point guard whose biggest asset is his speed. Collison and Lawson draw a lot of similarities, although Lawson has had more NBA success to this point. Still, they are both undersized in a league where point guards are becoming bigger and bigger.

Secondly, the Kings would likely have to give up their 6th overall pick in this years NBA Draft in order to acquire Lawson. For the Kings, this is a very important pick - one that they should undoubtedly keep.

The top priority in the offseason for the Kings is to do whatever they can to find a frontcourt mate for DeMarcus Cousins. This could mean drafting Willie Cauley-Stein, it could mean trading the pick for a proven talent at PF or C, or it could mean trading up in the draft, should Jahlil Okafor, Kristaps Porzingas or Karl Anthony-Towns become available via trade.

Regardless of who they pick, it is important for the mentality of DeMarcus Cousins, that the Kings show they are committed to finding him help this summer.

Darren Collison is not the strongest starting point guard in the league, but he is serviceable so long as the rest of the team can fill out. Cousins is arguably the best center in the league, and his versatility should allow him to play alongside a power forward or a center.

With the number six pick in the draft, perhaps the Kings' best option would be to draft Willie Cauley-Stein. Cauley-Stein is a defensive center, whose game should translate instantly to the NBA. He is big, at 7'0" and 245 lbs, which would make him and Cousins one of the most physically imposing frontcourts in the NBA.

An alternative route for the Kings, would be to pick up Emmanuel Mudiay at number six, to replace Darren Collison. Mudiay's stock has jumped around a bit, predicted as high as number 3 by some, and as low as 8 by others. For the most part, scouts are expecting him to be off the boards by the time that the Kings are drafting, but if he is still available, then Sacramento should take a serious look at him.
