1st Quarter (12:00): We are underway!

8:06 P.M. Lakers' only win against the Grizzlies last season came at the FedEX Forum.

7:55 P.M. EST: Still no indication whether Kelly is playing or not.

7:26 P.M. EST: Byron Scott said that he is more concerned with Mike Conley in this game because he is very underrated. That is true, but Gasol and Randolph may hurt the Lakers more.

7:22 P.M. EST: With Ellington out, expect Jordan Clarkson to see some minutes.

7:21 P.M. EST: Ryan Kelly has not been ruled out of tonight's game yet, but he is more likely to play on Wednesday against the New Orleans Pelicans.

7:19 P.M. EST: Sad news for Wayne Ellington. His father was shot and killed in Philadelphia, so he has taken a leave of absence from the team. Ellington heard the news after Sunday's game.

6:13 P.M. EST: The Grizzlies won the season series 3-1 against the Lakers last season. The only game that the Grizzlies lost was when Kobe Bryant was played in that game. The rest of the games, Kobe was out with an injury. So this game could be really interesting, even though the Lakers have been struggling. Although the Grizzlies have been winning games, they have allowed most of their opponents to hang around. That's how the Bucks were able to beat them on Saturday night.

6:12 P.M. EST: There is one guy who could and has been an X-Factor this season for the Grizzlies, and that is Courtney Lee. The Grizzlies have placed him into the starting lineup this season, and he has been scoring in bunches. Lee is averaging 15.2 points per game on an incredible 55.3 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from three-point range. Amazing percentages. That is the one guy that the Lakers will definitely need to find on defense or else they are going to get burned by him.

6:11 P.M. EST: The Grizzlies bench hasn't been so good this season as they are second to last in bench scoring. Here is where the Lakers could take advantage. Their second unit, led by Ed Davis, has been solid, despite not having a couple of key players.

6:10 P.M. EST: However, Allen will have to make Kobe work on the offensive end as well. He will have to attack the basket and remain aggressive throughout the game to force Bryant to waste energy because it is clear, from previous head to heads, that Kobe will back off and give Allen room to shoot jumpers all night long.

6:09 P.M. EST: Looking at the matchups, there is one that is very interesting. Tony Allen verus Kobe Bryant. This matchup goes back to the Celtics/Lakers finals in 2010. Allen is one of the best defenders Kobe has ever faced, and Bryant has publicly admitted that. Allen is a physical, crafty defender with quick hands and high I.Q. on the defensive end. He will give Bryant plenty of trouble on that end of the court, but he is not an offensive threat.

6:08 P.M. EST: Surprisingly, the Grizzlies are only 21st in rebounding but against another terrible rebounding team that are undersized, you would think that they would take full advantage.

6:07 P.M. EST: One issue the Lakers may have against this Grizzlies team is rebounding and interior defense. The Grizzlies have one of the best power forward/center tandems in the NBA. Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph are two strong bigs with great rebounding abilities and physical defense. The Lakers, on the other hand, are quite undersized. It is going to be tough for Boozer to defend Randolph in the low post without fouling.

6:06 P.M. EST: During their last game, the Lakers finally received great production from Jeremy Lin and Carlos Boozer. They will need those two guys to remain consistent and help Kobe Bryant in this game as well if the Lakers want a chance. Jordan Hill continues his fine play as well.

6:05 P.M. EST: The Lakers, as mentioned many times before, are the worst defensive teams this season. They allow opponents to score 112.7 points per game on 48.4 percent shooting. The other night, they actually held the Hornets under 100 points, which was the first time the Lakers held an opponent under 100 points.

6:04 P.M. EST: As good as the Grizzlies are defensively, they are not a great offensive team. Memphis scores 93.0 points per game on 43.0 percent shooting. This is a team that relys heavily on their defense, and it works. They have started the season 6-1 but surprisingly lost their last game against the Milwaukee Bucks.

6:03 P.M. EST: How good is Memphis' defense? They allow just 87.6 points per game (first best in the league) and hold opponents to 42.8 percent shooting. They also only allow 92.6 points per 100 possessions which is third best in the league.

6:02 P.M. EST: The Lakers are, however, coming off their first win of the season Sunday night against the Charlotte Hornets. Unfortunately, the Grizzlies are a tougher team and are the best defensive team in the league right now.

6:01 P.M. EST: This is a battle between a Western Conferece heavyweight versus a Western Conference lightweight. The Grizzlies are currently tied for first place with the Houston Rockets out West. Meanwhile, the Lakers are tied for last place with the Denver Nuggets.

6:00 P.M. EST: Welcome to VAVEL_USA's Live of the Los Angeles Lakers and the Memphis Grizzlies.
