Anastasia Potapova shook off a slow start to defeat American Kayla Day 5-7, 6-0, 6-2 and reach the girls' final.

Day edges out close, long first set to take the lead

Potapova struggled in her first two service games, saving a break point in each game, but she wasn't as fortunate as Day broke in the Russian's next service game to love to take a 3-2 lead. She appeared to have the set under control, cruising to a 5-3 lead, but Potapova dug in, saving two set points before breaking to level the set at 5. Her momentum was short-lived as Day broke again, taking a 6-5 lead before closing the set out on her serve at 15 to win it 7-5.

Potapova cruises to the second set, ties match match at one set all

Like the first set, the second set started out with long games. Unlike the first set, Day was the one under pressure, wasting two break points on Potapova's service game before being broken in an epic second game that lasted 22 points. With a 2-0 lead, Potapova closed out the set routinely, Day getting to deuce on the next two service games of the Russian, but no further. Ahead 5-2, Potapova closed out the set to 15 to force a third and final set.

Potapova pitches shutout in the third set to advance to the final

At this point, the momentum was with the fourth seed and she carried that into the final set, losing just nine points total. She broke to 15 for a 2-0 lead, went to deuce before breaking for a 4-0 bulge. She broke once again to 30 to close out the match, winning the final set 6-0 while being untroubled on her own serve to reach the final against Ukranian Daria Yastremska.
