Kim Little had an incredible 2014 NWSL season for the Seattle Reign. She was named NWSL Player of the Week and Month several times throughout the year. So far this year, she has been named NWSL Player of the Month (June) just one time. After her first ever NWSL hat-trick, Little was named the NWSL Player of the Week for Week 19.

The Reign took on the Houston Dash this past Friday in Houston on FOX Sports 1. If you were not tuned in, you missed one heck of a show put on by Kim. In the Reign’s 3-0 victory over the Dash, Little scored in the 42’, 74’ and 90’ to dash Houston’s playoff dreams (pun intended).

Her first goal was set up by Lauren Barnes’ pass that got Little into space. She was able to outrun the defender and calmly place her shot past an onrushing Erin McLeod. In the 74’, she blasted a shot from the top of the 18 yard box past a diving McLeod and into the far corner. She was just getting started.

Little saved her best for last. After a sequence of passes from several Seattle players, Kim received the ball inside the penalty area and proceeded to work her magic. She dribbled around four separate Dash players and was quick enough to beat an onrushing/diving McLeod to complete her hat-trick in the 90’.

Little is currently tied for second in NWSL with nine goals. She currently trails the Washington Spirit’s Crystal Dunn, who has 13 on the season. Little also has six assists, which is good to lead the league. When she’s not scoring goals, making defenders look silly or overpowering her opponents, she is looking to set her teammates. That is why she arguably one of the best players at her position in the world. Some would say she was the best player not at the 2015 Women’s World Cup and if she had been there, she might have been the best player there.

The Reign takes on the Boston Breakers Wednesday at Memorial Stadium and finishes the week off at home against Sky Blue FC this Saturday night.

The NWSL Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a selection of journalists that cover the league on a consistent basis.
