The WWE World Champion is a man in demand and Hardcore Gamer sat down to discuss the highlights of his career and the upcoming 2K17 video game.

The game available on all platform is due to be released October 11, 2016 with AJ Styles among many others a playable character.

The story and journey of Styles is one that is full of many highs and many lows as he broke through on the independent scene but it took until he was 38-years-old to find himself in WWE.

Now, he sits at the very top of the biggest professional wrestling company in the world with gold proudly laced over his shoulder a place he always knew he would be destined for.

He said on if he ever believed it would happen "Yeah, absolutely! There was not a part of me that you could tell me that I was not going to be champion."

The veteran has been very vocal of the support his wife has given to him over the course of his career and protested that he had to support her sometimes.

He said "I told my wife – my girlfriend at the time, that it would pay off and it certainly has."

Styles first got his start in wrestling 17-years ago and in 2001 he was signed to WWE's rival brand, WCW, and ever since then it has been how he has "made his living."

On WWE and future

Despite only being a part of the WWE since January 2016 when he debuted at the Royal Rumble, The Phenomenal One has been a showcase with his bouts nearly always the match of the night.

On his favorite match in his short tenure with the company he said "I hope it’s my next match. I want to have a better match every time I’m in the ring. The past does not’t get me paid, the future does."

A rather admirable outlook was nearly destroyed following an injury that could have halted his career in the company, an injury that was full of ifs and butts.

On his injury he sad it was "not a back thing" but actually a "butt thing" as the "gluteus minimus" which pulls on "everything" was "pulling" his "back" but on his recovery he said "a little DPP Yoga" and he is on his way.

Styles is no fool as he is already planning for life after he is done inside the squared circle, he said he "enjoys putting matches together" which sounds like a recipe for success.

With the next generation of professional wrestlers now enticed at the prospect of working with the veteran he said he "definitely wants to stay in WWE."

He finished with "I see as many great kids down there. I love seeing the passion on people's’ faces and the excitement of putting together something great."
