LAS VEGAS, NEVADA---Almost ten and a half years ago, the 2nd ranked heavyweight contender Andrei "Pit Bull" Arlovski was the UFC Heavyweight Champion of the world before being defeated in back-to-back fights (once as the champion and the other as the challenger) versus Tim Sylvia. Since, he has left the UFC, won four straight fights back in the organization, and entered tonight with an opportunity to receive a future title shot against the winner of UFC 196's headliner Fabricio Werdum versus Cain Velasquez.

Better luck next time!

Matched-up against 3rd ranked contender Stipe Miocic in the co-main event of UFC 195, Arlovski fell in 54 seconds via a first round knockout from his opponent.

Landing an inside leg kick as the first significant strike of the bout, "Pit Bull" initially ate a jab from his opponent prior to the two breaking apart from the action. However, from that moment on, the fight was all Miocic.

Despite the statistics showing Arlovski having one more significant and total strike than the opposition (7-6), Miocic seemed to have landed the more meaningful blows before connecting with a short right hook and left, which caught the ear and buckled, then wiped out the legs of the former champion.

To keep things brief and simple, as soon as "Pit Bull" hit the canvas it was over, for Arlovski threw three hammer fists before referee Herb Dean stepped in and called a stop to the action. The long road back to a championship shot just became a whole lot longer for Andrei Arlovski, but much shorter for Stipe Miocic.

He Said It (Part I)

"I don't know man. Like I said, Andrei is a tough dude. Former champion. He has been on a roll. You don't know what's going to happen. It's MMA. We're in small gloves. S--t can happen."
---Stipe Miocic's on whether he knew it would be his right hand to cause the KO.

He Said It (Part II)

"I want my (title) shot!"
---Stipe Miocic to UFC President Dana White following his knockout victory.

He Said It (Part III)

"With my luck, I probably would."
---Stipe Miocic's response to UFC announcer Joe Rogan saying the only way Miocic is not in line for a title shot is if he gets hit by a meteor.
