The WNBA saw its midseason break interrupted with a rather large three-team trade. The Minnesota Lynx acquired center Sylvia Fowles and a 2016 second round draft pick from the Chicago Sky. The Sky received center Erica de Souza from the Atlanta Dream.  The Dream received Damiris Dantas, Reshanda Gray and its 2016 first round pick from the Lynx.

What this means for the Minnesota Lynx:

The Lynx are now loaded. Fowles joins MVP Maya Moore, Seimone Augustus, Rebekkah Brunson and Lindsey Whalen. Fowles adds an inside scoring and rebounding presence, as well as being an excellent defender. Fowles already has a familiarity with the likes of Moore, Augustus and Whalen as they were teammates on the Olympic team. The Lynx were already at the top of the Western Conference, but now how a starting five that is unmatched.

What this means for the Chicago Sky:

The Sky add veteran center Erika de Souza, who will bring a stellar defensive presence to the Chicago lineup, and blend in to the offensive games of Elena Delle Donne, Cappie Pondexter, Courtney Vandersloot and Allie Quigley. They will still be a threat in the East. The Brazilian center is averaging 8.6 points and 7.5 rebounds with the Dream, who she spent the last eight seasons with.

What this means for the Atlanta Dream:

The Dream get younger and more athletic. They add two young players in second-year forward Damiris Dantas and rookie Reshanda Gray as well as the Lynx first round pick in the 2016 WNBA Draft. The unproven young players will be able to learn from veterans Angel McCoughtry and Sancho Lyttle. Despite being in last place in the Eastern Conference, the Dream are only five games out of first place. Adding these young players will help the future of the this franchise.
