Thiem wins the US Open!

Dominic Thiem is the US Open champion!

What an incredible comeback by Thiem! Down two sets, down 5-3 in the fifth set, he rallies to claim his first major title. He's the first man in the Open era to come back from two sets down to win the title and the first Austrian to win in Flushing Meadows.

A word about Zverev, who so admirably performed well in his first major final. He had his chances to win, especially serving at 5-3, but you know for sure he will be back in many more major finals. Also, all the best to his father, who is dealing with the effects of COVID-19.

That just about wraps up our coverage of the US Open. Congratulations again to Dominic Thiem on his first major title as well as Shingo Kuneida and Didie de Groot, who continued their dominance in the wheelchair competition. This is John Lupo thanking you again for joining me today and we will see you next week in Rome!

Take care, everyone.
