The Connecticut Open has announced that the two remaining wild card spots for the tournament have been handed to Agnieszka Radwanska and Eugenie Bouchard.

Former Wimbledon finalists Radwanska and Bouchard will both be looking to improve on their results in the tournament last year, as they join event-debutant Shelby Rogers and four-time champion Caroline Wozniacki in receiving wild cards into the tournament.

Both looking to improve on 2015 performances

Neither of the two met expectations when they played in New Haven last year, and both will certainly be looking for a better run this time around.

Radwanska comfortably saw off Coco Vandeweghe and Alize Cornet in her opening two matches last year, but then lost to eventual champion Petra Kvitova in the last eight. The Pole has had a very solid season to date, though has had a slight dip in terms of her results, and will be looking to use her position as the top seed in New Haven to get a few wins and build up some confidence for the US Open; statistically her worst major.

Last year’s campaign at the Connecticut Open could not have gone any worse for Bouchard; in the midst of her 2015 slump, the Canadian won just one game in a humiliating loss to Roberta Vinci. Since then, Bouchard has failed to rise up the rankings as much as many had expected, leaving her unseeded for the tournament.

Fellow wild cards looking for form

Like Bouchard, and to a lesser extent, Radwanska, both Wozniacki, and Rogers are looking for form heading into Flushing Meadows.

Former world number one Wozniacki won the title in Connecticut for four years in a row, from 2008-11, and reached the semifinal last year; the Dane will be hoping this is once again a happy hunting ground for her once again, after a season stricken with injury issues.

Rogers has had some good results this season, including her maiden Grand Slam quarterfinal at the French Open, though her season has tailed off of late, and she’ll be looking for some confidence heading into her home Grand Slam tournament.
