It was Serena Williams and Venus Williams who  came away victorious following a 6-3, 6-4 victory over fifth seeds Timea Babos and Yaroslava Shvedova to claim their sixth women's doubles title at Wimbledon

Williams sisters clinch all important break to win set

Both teams started the doubles final by holding. In just the second game and longest of the set, Babos and Shvedova were forced to save a break point before holding after being taken to deuce on four occasions. In the next game, the Williams sisters had to save a break point as they went on to go 2-1 in front.

In the fifth game, the Williams sisters went down a break, however, they soon composed themselves and broke back immediately in the following game. The sisters once again saved a break point and then broke in the next game for a 5-3 lead. As Babos hit a forehand error into the net, the Williams sisters would soon win the first set 6-3.

One break enough as Williams clinch their sixth title

Both teams then began having fun on the court. The Williams sisters held their opening service game to love before Babos and Shvedova held theirs. As the set wore on the Williams began dictating, dominating and holding serve comfortably. With the match nearing its conclusion, the seventh game would be crucial. Shvedova served a double fault to give the unseeded American pair the all-important break. They won the point and then managed to consolidate serve to go with a game of the title.

Babos and Shvedova held their own and forced the Williams to serve it out for the victory. The Hungarian-Kazakh pair had a chance to break back following a double fault from Venus Williams. However, the pair came back and with Serena Williams dominating at the net, she put away a smash and brought the game to deuce. Three points later and they would have another chance to seal the title. This time, it was Babos who would lose the point as an interception from Serena proved too hot to handle. And with that, the Williams sisters clinched their sixth Wimbledon crown. Only Martina Navratilova and Pam Shriver have won the doubles titles on more occasions.
