Samantha Stosur came through against Magda Linette and won 7-5, 6-3. They have never played in any tournament before. The Aussie only needed one hour and seventeen minutes to book her place in the next round at Wimbledon

Magda's efforts were not sufficient

In the first game of this match we saw that Linette isn't a player who is affraid to attack. She wanted to lead the game. However, the first game didn't go her way- she even didn't win a point. In the next one, fast action at the net gave the young tennis player her first game, but we noticed hesitation in Magda's play as she made a lot of unnecessary mistakes.

A beautiful forehand by Samantha let her win third game in this match. The Polish was shining in her actions at the net, but that meant little, when her first services were ineffective. She served first double fault, causing the first break to go to Samantha. However, the Aussie wasn't happy for long. Linette showed us how to hit the forehand and win games during the Aussie's service.

After this situation, Magda was stronger than before, but she didn't improve her first serve. Although she won her second game in a row, in the sixth one we came back to the rule: who serves, then wins. The Pole's forehand functioned very well. In the fourth serving game Linette did two double faults and we saw deuce, but Magda didn't give advantage to her opponent.

In the next one, Samantha showed off her fantastic game at the net, with the Pole trying to oppose Sam. Then, Stosur started to torture her younger opponent with aggressives returns. She had two set points, but finally Magda won game. Linette was trying to attack at the net, and in the twelfth game the Pole was serving under pressure, but she didn't perform well. After her sixth set point, Samantha Stosur won 7-5.

Stosur takes adventage

The first point in the second set went to the Pole, but she lost the first game. However, Magda had a lot of ideas to win points, but she didn't use them well. In the second game, Linette didn't give any points to her opponent. This went the way of Stosur, when she was serving next, but the fourth game in this set wasn't good for the Pole.

Stosur tried to diversify her play, and the young tennis player was broken. The next game was the most interesting: Samantha served three double faults, but these errors didn't disturb her to triumph and extend advantage over Magda, so the Pole was under pressure again. She overcame this, but her situation was still a difficult one. Samantha was playing better and better, and her experience was priceless in this case. Magda was trying to play more at the net, which resulted in her winning the next game. Stosur was serving to the match, and when Sam serves well, she can win every point. After two match points, she ended this with an ace.

Who is next?

That wasn't the best match from Samantha, but a victory is important nonetheless. In the next round she will play against Sabine Lisicki. The German beat Shelby Rogers 6-1 6-3, and everyone knows that the 2013 Wimbledon finalist is dangerous on the grass. They have played six times, with the last match in Rome in 2014, where the Aussie won 6-3, 6-3.
