Dalma Galfi was awarded the 2015 ITF Girls' World Champion award at the Champions Dinner during this year's French Open. The Hungarian was brilliant in her first major junior tournament of 2015 and continued that throughout the year. Her consistent performances in big events were good enough to earn her this prestigious award.

From Roehampton to New York

The Hungarian's first junior event of the 2015 season came in Roehampton, Great Britain where she participated in the Nike Junior International Roehampton. In the 64 player draw, the 17-year-old outlasted some of the world's best juniors. Although she didn't fare too well on the grasses of Wimbledon and the clay of the European Junior Tennis Championships after her title in Roehampton, she more than made up for it at the US Open. The Hungarian outlasted American Sofia Kenin for the junior title, getting her first junior Grand Slam title.

Following her US Open title, she played in two more major Juniors events in the United States, finishing her season with some strong results. At the Eddie Herr International Tennis Championships, she made it all the way to the semifinals before dropping to Kylie McKenzie. She then followed that semifinals appearance with another semifinal showing at the Metropolia Orange Bowl International Tennis Championship. She lost to eventual finalist Bianca Vanessa Andreescu

Garnering Some Professional Experience

Playing in ITF events is currently what Galfi is doing at the moment. Since she made her decision to play more professional events, it's been a bit of a struggle for her to get it going, like she did in the juniors. In her first few events, she crashed out in the early stages but finally found her footing in a couple 10K tournaments in Greece where she made back-to-back semifinals.
