Amazon Launches New 4K Fire TV, Budget Tablets

Amazon launched seven new members of the Fire family today, including the Fire tablet, Fire HD 8Fire HD 10, Fire Kids Edition, Fire TV StickFire TV, and the Fire TV Gaming Edition.

These devices are released on the heels of Apple's Apple TV, iPad mini 4, and iPad Pro, and are expected to act as direct competitors to the Cupertino giant's lineup.

Fire

The $49 Fire tablet is a pretty great tablet for its price. The 7" display features 171ppi with a 1024 x 600 resolution. It also features a quad-core 1.3GHz processor.

It features 8GB of internal storage, with an expandable memory of up to 128GB via a microSD slot. The tablet also comes with unlimited cloud storage. The battery promises 7 hours of regular use.

Amazon is also offering a promotion in which you can offer the tablet in a six-pack (via promo code FIRE6PACK) for $249.99. 

The tablet comes in Black, and will be available September 30th.

Fire HD 8

The 8" tablet offers over a million pixels, with 189 ppi and a 1280 x 800 resolution. It also features a quad-core 1.5GHz processor. As for the camera, it features a rear-facing 5MP camera and a front-facing camera hitting 720p.

The tablet comes in 8GB or 16GB, but it's expandable by a microSD slot, and if that isn't enough, there's unlimited cloud storage included. The battery promises 8 hours of regular use.

The metal-bodied tablet comes in Black, Blue, Magenta, and Tangerine. It will be available on September 30th starting at $149.99.

Fire HD 10

The 10.1" screen comes with 149 ppi and a 1280 x 800 resolution. It also features a quad-core 1.5GHz processor. As for the camera, it features a rear-facing 5MP camera and a front-facing camera going up to 720p. 

The tablet comes in 16GB or 32GB, but it's expandable by a microSD slot. If you tend to take a lot of photos or download a lot of apps, no worries, there's also unlimited cloud storage included. The battery promises 8 hours of regular use.

The metal-bodied tablet comes in Black and White. It will be available on September 30th starting at $229.99.

Fire Kids Edition

The Kid's Edition is said to be Amazon's first "Kid-Proof" tablet. If your kid breaks it, they'll replace it for free for up to 2 years with no questions asked.

The tablet features a 7" display and 8GB of internal memory, expandable by 128GB via a microSD slot, as well as infinitely into the cloud service provided for free to all customers.

The $99.99 tablet comes in Blue and Pink and is set to be available on September 30th.

Fire TV Stick

The new Fire TV Stick comes in two configurations- one with a standard remote, and one with a voice remote. The voice remote is powered by Alexa, and offers the ability to check things such as sports scores or weather instantly.

Theing stick is advertised as featuring 4x the storage and 2x the memory of the Chromecast, and is available starting October 22nd for $49.99.

Fire TV

The new Fire TV also features a voice remote powered by Alexa, as well as 4K Ultra HD support. It also features 2GB of memory, 8GB of on-board storage (expandable up to 128gb), and over 800 games.

The newing box starts at $99.99, and is available starting October 5th.

Fire TV Gaming Edition

The Gaming Edition of the Fire TV comes with a 32GB microSD card, a gaming controller, and two games (Shovel Knight and Disney DuckTales: Remastered). The controller contains a headphone jack that allows you to listen to audio separate from the TV.

The box also features a 2GHz quad-core processor and 2GB of memory. It will be available October 5th starting at $139.99.
