Light years of difference
Miguel Herrera considered that MLS is more advanced in its development than Liga MX, this he highlighted when questioned about his team's participation in the upcoming Leagues Cup.
"We just think -which is a serious mistake- that we have to compete with MLS and MLS at league level is light years ahead of us. They already want to beat Spain, Italy and England, they don't even look at the Mexican league, on the field it seems to me that we still win and compete in several of the matches," he said emphatically.
Clear candidate
Frenchman Wilfried Nancy is one of the candidates to win the MLS 2022 Coach of the Year award. The DT led Montreal at its highest point of the MLS franchise, fighting equally against Philadelphia Union and remaining as the leader of its conference.
Canada's support
Canada, winner of the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers, was the surprise team that qualified for the World Cup. The Montreal team has several names that will be present at the World Cup, such as: Koné, Piette, Kamal Miller and Alistair Johnston.
Growing exponentially
MLS added 600,000 net followers on social media, up 65% net from 2021, driven by TikTok, where the league added 455,000 followers and is on track to reach 1 million by the end of the year.
"MLS and soccer in America are on the rise and will make their mark," "I'm just trying to generate as much awareness about the league as I can. It's easy for me because I love the league and I love the job," Beck told Boardroom.
He will leave Montreal
CF Montréal has agreed to transfer its midfielder Djordje Mihailovic to AZ Alkmaar of the Dutch Eredivisie, arriving in January 2023, the two clubs announced. The transfer was valued at more than US$6 million, a record figure for the Canadians.
Benefiting
MLS is benefiting from an increasingly younger multicultural demographic in the United States.
"It's a very important audience for us for a number of reasons," says Bruce. "A lot of the tournaments and properties we've created with Liga MX (including the CONCACAF Champions League, the League Cup and the Champions Cup) are really poised to capture that audience and build on that momentum."
They are looking for Pique
The last days are being really hard for Gerard Piqué, it seems that FC Barcelona would have taken the determination to separate at the end of this season. Faced with this situation, several teams have already appeared that would be interested but the one that draws the most attention is in the MLS.
Los Angeles Galaxy would be after the steps of Pique to reinforce their defense for next year and would be removing heaven and earth to get the MLS to accept the arrival of the Catalan since it would be a move that would require a lot of money.
