He could go to MLS
Luis Suarez returned to Uruguay to play with his first team, Nacional. 'Lucho' is already visualizing the future and hinted that the MLS is a great opportunity to continue.
"It is one of the options that I see very close, but now I don't think about it. I think and enjoy playing for Nacional," said the striker.
Alliance among the best
During a presentation at the World Football Summit in Seville, Spain, Liga MX president Mikel Arriola added that the Liga MX and MLS alliance will put the national tournament among the top five in the world by 2026.
"I have no doubt that the alliance between LIGA MX and MLS, projecting Leagues Cup 2023 and preparing for the joint World Cup in 2026, will allow us, in value, to be among the Top 5 leagues in the world," said Mikel Arriola.
Record Breaking
The MLS regular season ended with excellent numbers, posting the highest fan attendance in league history, with a record of more than 10 million breaking its previous high of 8.6 million set in 2019, while 10 clubs had attendance growth compared to 2019.
Benefiting
MLS is benefiting from an increasingly younger multicultural demographic in the United States.
"It's a very important audience for us for a number of reasons," says Bruce. "A lot of the tournaments and properties we've created with Liga MX (including the CONCACAF Champions League, the League Cup and the Champions Cup) are really poised to capture that audience and build on that momentum."
Growing exponentially
MLS added 600,000 net followers on social media, up 65% net from 2021, driven by TikTok, where the league added 455,000 followers and is on track to reach 1 million by the end of the year.
"MLS and soccer in America are on the rise and will make their mark," "I'm just trying to generate as much awareness about the league as I can. It's easy for me because I love the league and I love the job," Beck told Boardroom.
Light years of difference
Miguel Herrera considered that MLS is more advanced in its development than Liga MX, this he highlighted when questioned about his team's participation in the upcoming Leagues Cup.
"We just think -which is a serious mistake- that we have to compete with MLS and MLS at league level is light years ahead of us. They already want to beat Spain, Italy and England, they don't even look at the Mexican league, on the field it seems to me that we still win and compete in several of the matches," he said emphatically.
They are looking for Pique
The last days are being really hard for Gerard Piqué, it seems that FC Barcelona would have taken the determination to separate at the end of this season. Faced with this situation, several teams have already appeared that would be interested but the one that draws the most attention is in the MLS.
Los Angeles Galaxy would be after the steps of Pique to strengthen their defense for next year and would be removing heaven and earth to get the MLS to accept the arrival of the Catalan since it would be a move that would require a lot of money.
