Forward Adriana Leon of Western New York Flash is being transferred to FC Zürich Frauen, which is a club team from Zürich, Switzerland. In the past nine months with the Flash, Leon has started in three games with a total of 10 caps.

Leon's NWSL Experience

Leon has been with the Flash since November 2015. Prior to being apart of the Flash, Leon made her first debut on the NWSL team Boston Breakers in January of 2013 and the following June was traded to the Chicago Red Stars. With the Red Stars, she had a total of 35 caps with the team. Leon was then traded to the Flash this past November.

Appearance helps Canada rise to quarterfinals in WWC

In 2012, Leon made her first appearance as part of the Canadian Women's National Team. She currently has scored five goals for the team as she's made 38 appearances with 24 starts in matches.

As part of the Canada WNT, Leon helped lead Canada to the quarterfinals during the 2015 World Cup as they were the hosts of the tournament. Leon participated in four games for Canada, who didn't advance from the quarterfinals as they lost to England in a 2-1 match.

Paul Riley, head coach of the Flash comments about the transfer:

"Adriana has been a pleasure to work with this season, she has a great opportunity in Europe and, based on the present form of our front two, we all feel it will be hugely beneficial for her career to get substantially more playing time and experience in a different league. She is a talented player and I personally want to thank her for her commitment and dedication to our club over the past nine months." - Paul Riley, Head coach of Western New York Flash

The 23 year-old will be a member of the FC Zürich Frauen club team, which is currently in second place in their league. Be sure to tune into this weekend's game as the Flash faces Washington Spirit in Maryland at 7:00pm ET.
