Midfielder Kaylyn Kyle has been a part of the Canada Women's team since 2008. She has had sixty-one caps, six goals, and seven assists. This past October, Kyle was traded from NWSL team Portland Thorns to Orlando Pride, along with U.S forward Alex Morgan and U.S international Sarah Hagen from FC Kansas City.

Kyle decides to stay with Orlando

Kyle was asked to be an alternate player for the Canadian team this summer at the Olympics. Being an alternate player consists of being a substitute player when another starting player is injured. While being an alternate player you're not guaranteed to play on the field for weeks at a time unless needed. Recently, Kyle announced that she will not be attending the Olympics for team Canada to remain and be committed to Orlando Pride.

"I'm very honored and proud to represent Canada in any way and in role that I'm given, but I'm so passionate about the Orlando Pride and the Orlando City organization that it was super important for me to stay here."

Kyle not listed by coach John Herdman

This past June, coach John Herdman of the Canadian team listed his roster of eighteen players to represent Canada on the road to Rio. Although Kyle isn't listed as one of these players she is still very supportive of the Canadian team and will remain in contact with them through team meetings and phone calls with coach Herdman regarding the team and their steps throughout the Olympics.

According to Kyle, Herdman was very understanding to her decision and agreed for her to remain with Orlando Pride. Kyle was extremely grateful for his understanding and his willingness to keep her updated with the teams progress and strategies.

Due to the Olympics approaching, six of the Orlando Pride players will not be available on the field as they spend the time to train with their national teams. With this loss, Kyle will be able to contribute to this NWSL team as a midfielder rather than being an alternate player for a national team where she isn't guaranteed much or any playing time.

"Kaylyn is a tough tackling midfielder with extensive league experience."
