Christine Sinclair, of the Portland Thorns, has been named NWSL Player of the Month for June. She becomes the second Thorns player to be voted as such after teammate Tobin Heath was named Player of the Month for April. This is Sinclair’s second time being named Player of the Month in her NWSL career (2013).

The Canadian international got off to a good start in June. Sinclair scored the first goal of a match in three straight games. Two of those goals would become game-winning goals. She scored her first goal of the month and season against the Chicago Red Stars on June 12. Red Stars’ goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher tried to clear the ball, but it struck Sinclair and rebounded into the goal in the 25th minute of their 1-1 draw.

In the game against Western New York Flash on June 17th, Sinclair scored the opening goal again in the 48th minute in the Thorns 2-0 win. Just five days later on June 22nd, she scored the opening and eventual game-winning goal against the Red Stars in just the sixth minute of the match that Portland would win 2-0. In their game against the Orlando Pride on June 26th, she assisted on Dagny Brynjarsdottir's goal in the 80th minute as the Portland was able to rally and win the game 2-1.
