The Montreal Impact hosted Orlando City SC on Saturday night at Stade Saputo in a pivotal Eastern Conference tilt for both clubs.

The Impact, who've won four of their last six matches in league play after a slow start invited in an Orlando City squad who'd won back-to-back games for the first time ever in club history as an MLS side. The Lions had also recently extended their undefeated run to six games, with a victory over former USL rivals Charleston Battery 4-4 (8-7) after ten rounds of penalty kicks, on Wednesday night in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup

The teams had already met once in Montreal this season on March 14. Ignacio Piatti and Jack McInerney lifted the Impact to a lead before the end of the 1st half, but Pedro Ribeiro and Kaká answered back with goals a minute apart to leave the teams in a 2-2 draw at Olympic Stadium.

Orlando City SC, who sat alone in 3rd place in the Eastern Conference on 20 points coming into Saturday's matchup got off to a slow-start, giving away too many early corners in the Impact's favor.

Orlando City's keeper Tally Hall made himself a canidate for MLS Save of the Week when he kept the Impact from scoring early in the 32nd minute on a laser through traffic from Piatti.

Montreal would break the scoreless tie in the 36th minute on a corner kick from Marco Donadel that found an open Donny Toia. Toia's acrobatic-angled header flew just below the post and into the back of the net.

The Impact would take a 1-0 lead into halftime, despite losing the 1st half possession battle 47%-53%.

Orlando City endured a huge loss early in the 2nd half when defender Aurélien Collin was subbed off with a reported calf injury. Brek Shea stepped up the pressure with Collin's aggressive asset now gone from the pitch, trying to keep the match within striking distance.

The Lions had many chances to equalize, as Cyle Larin led the team with three shots and Kaká had two as well. Yet, the Lions could never find paydirt in this one.

Impact keeper Evan Bush made three saves en route to earning his second clean sheet of the season.

Dominic Oduro put the game away with his second goal of the season in the 94th minute, giving Montreal three points and a 2-0 final result over Orland City.
