Jozy Altidore led the way as Toronto FC snapped a four game losing streak courtesy of the Orlando City SC with a 2-0 victory at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando. Toronto registered just their second win on the season in the sixth of seven away games to open the campaign.

For the first time this season, Toronto opened the scoring in a game. Altidore scored one in each half for his second brace of the season as the US international brought his goal count to four on the season.

Orlando dominated in terms of possession early on, but did not have much to show for. The duo of Darwin Green and Amobi Okugo in the Orlando midfield proved to be the key. Orlando struggled to break down Toronto, however, as a much improved defensive structure was held by Greg Vanney’s men.

Michael Bradley was the standout player for the visiting side as the captain held strong and made sure to break up attacks.

Orlando captain Kaka struggled to get anything going all night being closely man marked by the Toronto midfield.

After the Toronto backline was pinned back for most of the first half, a moment from the veteran Altidore put his team ahead. As the striker was fouled in midfield and Orlando players arguing the call with the referee, Altidore sprang to his feet and played a give-and-go with Sebastian Giovinco and then rounded a couple Orlando defenders to finish nicely with his left foot off the post and in.

The second half was much of the same as the home side again dominated possession, but were unable to break down a resilient Toronto defence.

Orlando upped the pressure in the final quarter of an hour in search of the all important equalizer. Altidore isolated at midfield by himself as his team defended, controlled a clearance in the 83rd minute and got two defenders to bite on couple fake shots before slotting it in with his left foot to put the game away.

Orlando failed to score for the second consecutive game after last week’s 3-0 defeat to the Columbus Crew.

Kaka and co try to snap their two game losing skid when they take on the New England Revolution next week and Toronto try to put together their first winning streak against the Philadelphia Union.
