Selfie Sunday!

Sunday's 1-1 draw with the Fire was not enough to dampen the spirits of fans in the wake of Dom Dwyer's selfie.  MLS and referee Alan Kelly should be ashamed that one of the highlights of the season was punished without solid justification.  The only rule that Dwyer may have broken was leaving the field of play when he bypassed the end boards.  But numerous players do that every season in MLS and it goes unpunished.  Even this week Erick Torres of Chivas USA went into the stands without punishment.   What makes this so bad is that the selfie made highlight reels.  Casual fans seeing MLS doing exciting things only to find out it got punished is a detriment to the league.

SKC Makes First Transaction of the Window

Sporting signed 22 year old Michael Kafari Tuesday morning.  Kafari was signed from the Charleston Battery where he made his post college debut.  A New Mexico University standout, Kafari will be bring much needed depth at defensive midfielder, but is touted to be capable of much more.

Kronberg Out, Greenenbaum In

Eric Kronberg broke a finger during practice on Wednesday and is expected to miss 8 weeks.  Kronberg has started all 17 games this season and is leading the league with 7 clean sheets.
SKC has also recalled Jon Kempin from his loan with the Oklahoma City Energy. The KC native will back Andy Greenenbaum for the next two months.

More Rumors

By far the hottest topic in Kansas City is whether or not captain Matt Besler will leave. As time goes on, the speculation grows. Besler's agent mentioned that a decision could be made as early as this weekend. Hopefully for all Sporting fans, the decision is made sooner rather than later. A quick exit will give Peter Vermes more time to replace him in the transfer window. If he stays, the fans will have one more thing to celebrate and a lot less stress.

Saturday Showdown

Sporting is in Montreal for tomorrow night's match-up against the Impact. They won both previous matches this season by multiple goals.  The clicking offense in KC and the weakened Impact defense have lead to great goals already this year.  With Zusi back and ready for his first full game, this match-up should see goals.  Dom Dwyer will continue his quest for the Golden Boot.  He currently sits 12 goals, 2 goals behind NYRB Bradley Wright-Phillips.

The only question remaining for tomorrow's game is "will Matt Besler start?"  Many European clubs prefer that potential transfers sit out to avoid injury.  That's not Vermes' style, but Besler's inclusion or exclusion from the starting 11 may be indicative of his intentions with a transfer.
