The Six Hours of Fuji, round six of the 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship season, saw most of its first hour run behind the safety car as wet conditions made visibility a major issue. Track conditions improved as the safety car pulled into pit lane and some exciting action pursued.

At the halfway mark of the six-hour event, track conditions have much improved although rain has been reported at certain areas around the circuit.

The pair of Porsche 919 Hybrids of Porsche Team started from the two frontmost positions after the 40 minutes behind the safety car, but their time leading the rest of the field was short lived. The pole-sitting No. 17, driven at the start by Mark Webber, ran off early in the first lap under green flag conditions, dropping instantly from the lead to sixth.

With the track still quite wet, various spins and off-track excursions continued throughout the field from before the safety car left the track and during the opening minutes of green flag racing.

By the end of the opening hour, the No. 7 Audi R18 e-tron quattro, at the hands of Marcel Fassler, led by a margin of 15 seconds over the sister No. 8 car of Audi Sport Team Joest. The Porsche 919 Hybrids suffered a disappointing start, but the No. 18 of Romain Dumas managed to make its way back up to third behind the pair of Audis. Running fourth was Kazuki Nakajima in the No. 1 Toyota TS040 Hybrid of local favorites Toyota Gazoo Racing.

The LMP2 category was led by the No. 36 Alpine A450b Nissan of Signatech Alpine. Meanwhile, James Calado of the No. 71 Ferrari F458 Italia of AF Corse led GTE-Pro and Stuart Hall of the No. 96 Aston Martin Racing entry led GTE-Am.

By the close of the opening hour, track conditions were much improved and a bit of sunshine was beginning to appear.

As the halfway mark was reached, the third hour, which saw a fierce battle at the front between the Porsche of Mark Webber and Audi of Marcel Fassler, came to a close.

- LMP1: Marc Lieb (No. 18 Porsche 919 Hybrid; Porsche Team)
