NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rookie Kyle Larson took his #32 truck to the pole for Saturday's running of the Pocono Mountains 150 at Pocono Raceway for the Camping World Truck Series.

Larson topped the charts in two of the three knockout rounds of qualifying around the 2.5 mile 'Tricky Triangle'. Fellow Sprint Cup Series rookie, Austin Dillon, was quickest in round one of qualifying.

Young Truck Series driver Spencer Gallagher took his #23 truck into round three of knockout qualifying for the first time in his career and will start in 12th position today. Tyler Reddick in the #19 truck will be on the second row along with fellow Truck Series driver Ben Kennedy in the #31 truck.

Round one began at 10 AM ET with Sprint Cup Series driver Clint Bowyer, who is substituting for John Wes Townley in the #05. Townley had a crash in ARCA qualifying yesterday and has been advised by doctors to sit out the racing this weekend. Bowyer posted a time of 54.46 seconds, which is a speed of 165.232 MPH.

Bowyer was not on top for long as reigning Truck Series driver Matt Crafton in the #88 truck went top with five minutes down with a time of 54.01 seconds and a speed of 166.630 MPH.

On his first run out, Larson went straight into 2nd spot on the leaderboard, but Dillon posted his time that would see him finish on top in round one on his first lap out, a 53.655 second lap with a speed of 167.738 MPH for the driver of the #3 truck.

Timothy Peters in the #17 truck was in 11th position after his first set of laps, but there could be some penalties in store for him and the team as after the Eldora race, NASCAR took the base plate from the truck to the Research and Development center and it is reported they found faults with it.

German Quiroga posted one of the slowest laps in history on his first lap: ten minutes and 30 seconds. The reason being that he started a lap but had problems when driving around and brought it to pit road. However, because his pit stall was positioned before the start/finish line the clock was still ticking. He did run 20th on his second time out on the track.

With ten minutes left, the top five were Dillon, Crafton, Larson, Kennedy, and Reddick. Young in the #02 truck was on the bubble in 24th and B.J Macleod was just outside in 25th in his #07 truck.

Bowyer in the #05 truck told FOX Sports 1, "Truck feels good and I pulled up behind someone but he slowed down before I got to the line, so hopefully I can draft with someone properly in the next round." He was in 6th with eight minutes left.

Eldora Speedway winner Darrell Wallace Jr went to 7th on his first run with a 54.52 second lap. With 30 seconds left in round one, Jennifer Joe Cobb in the #10 truck suffered a broken radiator hose and spilled water on the track, which brought an end to round one.

Round two started with a waiting game at the end of pit road, as drivers did not want to be the first truck on track and not have someone to draft with around the track. Also, Quirogas team took his truck to the garage area and he will start in at least 24th for Saturday's race.

After the trucks finally went on track, Larson was top with Blaney in 2nd not too much slower than the Cup Series rookie.

At the halfway point in the ten minute round, the top four were Larson with a time of 53.80 seconds, Blaney, Peters, Kennedy, and Sauter. J. White was on the bubble in 12th with Silas just outside in 13th.

Drivers began to make their second set of laps with only two minutes left with Dillon, Coulter, and Jones linked up to go 9th, 4th and 11th, respectively, to knock out Wallace Jr, Lofton, and White with only 1 minute left.

Only Lofton in the #20 truck and Gallagher in the #23 were able to jump into the top 12 with one minute left. The top 12 that made it to round three were Larson, Blaney, Peters, Coulter, Kennedy, Lofton, Sauter, Crafton, Bowyer, Dillon, Reddick, and Gallagher.

The third and final round, which was only five minutes in length, began with another waiting game on pit road until Gallagher went out on his own with four minutes remaining.

The rest of the eleven trucks did not make their first and final laps until one minute was left on the clock. They all made it to the start/finish line before the red and black flag was displayed. It was Larson who made the best lap, even though he had to pass Crafton out of turn three.

Larson will now not only start on the pole in the Sunday's Sprint Cup Series race at Pocono, but he will also be on the pole for Saturday's Camping World Truck Series race at 1 PM ET.
