Stewart Haas Racing driver Kevin Harvick in the Jimmy Johns Freaky Fast #4 car was dominant in all three rounds of knockout qualifying at Indianapolis Motor Speedway to take the pole for Sunday's Sprint Cup Series race at the Brickyard.

Harvick topped the charts in all three rounds of the qualifying session. It is only the second time this season a driver has accomplished that, with Harvick being doing it earlier in the season as well.

Round one began with an interesting fact that there have been sixteen different winners in sixteen races at the track. As the round started, there was a traffic jam at the exit of pit road as drivers waited for teammates or waited for a break in the clouds.

Jeff Gordon in the #24 car was quickest early on with a 48.031 second lap. Gordon was 4th quickest in the final practice session earlier on Saturday and his car clearly had speed.

With five minutes gone Gordon, Keselowski, Kenseth, Newman, (Last years winner) and Montoya made up the top five on the board.

Rookie Justin Allgaier aborted his first run out and reported, "I killed turn two, no point in finishing this." At the same time, Carl Edwards in the #99 got loose off turn tow, but kept it from hitting the outside wall.

Sixteen minutes were left on the clock when Harvick went to the point for the first time with a new track record lap of 47.647 seconds, slower than the time Jimmie Johnson ran in practice.

Ten minutes in Harvick, Gordon, Keselowski, Kenseth, and Johnson made up the top five as Denny Hamlin in the #11 FedEx car was on the bubble in 24th.

Seven minutes remained when Danica Patrick in the GoDaddy #10 car went into 23rd and knocked Martin Truex Jr out and also put Greg Biffle in the #16 car on the bubble.

There were problems shortly after for Aric Almirola as he clipped the wall coming out of turn two and had to bring his #43 machine to the garage area for repairs.

With only five minutes left, the top five on the chart were Harvick, Gordon, Keselowski, Kurt Busch, and Kenseth. Biffle was still on the bubble and Truex Jr was just outside in 25th.

Two minutes remained when Truex Jr went to make another run to knock out Biffle, but he couldn't manage to make up the difference.

At the end of the round Harvick was top with a track record time. The three drivers that will miss Sunday's race are Brett Moffitt, Matt Crafton, the reigning Truck Series champion, and David Stremme.

Round two began with notable names missing in Hamlin (27th) and Paul Menard (29th). Gordon was once again the first driver on track and posted a 48.131 second lap.

Harvick went to the top with seven minutes left with a 47.801 second lap time, as Keselowski went into 3rd on the board on his first run and teammate Logano put his #22 Pennzoil car into 6th.

At the halfway point, Harvick, Gordon, Keselowski, Johnson, and Newman made up the top five spots as rookie Kyle Larson was on the bubble in 12th.

Four minutes left saw Kurt Busch jump into 5th and lock out Larson into 13th. Shortly after, Tony Stewart went 4th in the #14 car to knock out Kenseth.

With only two minutes left on the clock, Biffle and Ricky Stenhouse Jr were the final two drivers to make a run. Biffle put his #16 car in 19th as Stenhouse Jr went 20th.

The top 12 to advance to round three were: Harvick, Gordon, Keselowski, Stewart, Johnson, Kurt Busch, Newman, Kasey Kahne, Montoya, Brian Vickers, Logano, and Kyle Busch.

Kenseth just missed out as he was 13th. Carl Edwards finished 18th and Dale Earnhardt Jr was 23rd.

The third, and final round, began with Vickers going out onto the track first and putting in a lap of 48.269 seconds, but was quickly knock off by Harvick, who put in a blistering 47.753 second lap.

Two minutes remained and only five cars had been on track in Harvick, Newman, Vickers, Montoya, and Kahne.

With one minute left, Keselowski jumped into 2nd and Kurt Busch went 5th in the #41 car. Soon after, Johnson went 8th and Gordon went on the front row in 2nd.

Finally, Stewart went into 6th on his first and final lap and Kyle Busch went 12th on his only run of the final round.

No one had anything for Harvick who grabbed another pole award, with a speed of 188.470 mph, for himself and the #4 team this season. Gordon, Keselowski, Newman, and Vickers rounded out the top five for Sunday's race which begins at 12:00 PM ET.
