The Columbus Blue Jackets open their NHL season with an away trip to Buffalo to take on the Sabres. Looking to continue on with their recent success, earning them a second playoff visit in franchise history, the Jackets sure hope to get this season started off on the right note. Having a dominant preseason, it's a good chance that Columbus will have a good season, now that they have star center Ryan Johansen back on their side.

The Columbus Blue Jackets ended their 2013-2014 season in 7th place in the Eastern Conference, with a franchise high 93 points. Which earned them a spot in the playoffs. Columbus went on to face newly minted "rivals," the Pittsburgh Penguins. Despite being knocked out in the first round, the Columbus Blue Jackets didn't end their season without putting up a fight, making their series in the playoffs go to 6 games, winning 2. Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky had an outstanding performance during both the regular season and the playoffs last year. He is looking to continue that into the new season.

The Buffalo Sabres ended their season on a rough note. They ended in 16th place in the Eastern conference, with 52 points, the Sabres were unfortunate not to make the playoffs. Looking to turn their season around, the Buffalo Sabres hope to open their season with a win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Prediction: The Columbus Blue Jackets and the Buffalo Sabres both are looking to start their respective seasons off on a good note. But only one will come out with a win and 2 points.
