The Denver Broncos have been negotiating with wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders about a new contract, but those talks have now been put on hold.

Don’t worry Broncos fans, this doesn’t mean that Sanders won’t get one, it just means that it may take longer than expected, therefore, an agreement won’t be made anytime soon.

Sanders was brought to Mile High as a replacement for Eric Decker, who wanted a bigger contract, which he ended up getting from the New York Jets.

Contract talks put on hold for now

Sanders certainly has surpassed expectations during his time with Denver, and he is the one now that is wanting a big deal, to possibly see out his career there.

The Broncos appear to be keen on bringing the wide receiver back, but the price he is demanding may well be too high with there being so little space in the salary cap.

Von Miller was handed the franchise tag, and the Broncos are yet to act upon that, and with the July 15th deadline looming, this issue is arguably the one that needs resolving the most.

With Denver stalling talks with Sanders, it may well allow them to focus entirely on making sure Miller gets the deal, which will impact as to what they can afford the wide receiver.

Sanders likely to get a contract extension

The deal with Miller could go one of two ways, they could give him the deal he wants and that will impact what they can offer Sanders.

Or things could fall through, which will leave plenty of space to strengthen up on offense, however, it is very likely that Sanders will get a deal before he reaches free agency next year.

Sanders played 16 games last season, making six touchdowns from 76 receptions, while also passing the 1,000-yard receiving mark as he made 1,135-yards last season.
