This Buffalo Bills-Philadelphia Eagles game had plenty of hype leading up to it. LeSean McCoy made his feelings known months ago when he was first traded to the Bills. His feelings hadn't changed this past week and he was pumped up.
The first quarter didn't start the way McCoy and the Bills had hoped. The Bills failed to get any points on the first drive. The Eagles first drive produced a touchdown after a Darren Sproles 1-yard run. It came after a long pass from Sam Bradford to Riley Cooper that Rex Ryan challenged and won as an imcomplete pass.
The Bills answered the Eagles touchdown in the next series. The series included two huge passes from Tyrod Taylor. The first to Robert Woods for 32-yards, and the second a 47-yard touchdown pass to Sammy Watkins.
Early in the second quarter, the Bills' Marcus Thigpen fumbled an Eagles punt. It set up the Eagles in good field position, but penalties drove them back. Then Bradford threw a 53-yard touchdown pass to Nelson Agholor. The score was 14-7 Eagles early in the second.
The Bills scored on the next drive. They had to settle for a Dan Carpenter field goal after some miscues on offense. The score was 10 - 14 Eagles in the middle of the second quarter.
Philadelphia came out strong in the third quarter, but the Bills defense managed to hold them to three. With the Caleb Strugis 41-yard kick it made it 17-10 Eagles. The Bills came back and answered with a 40-yard Dan Carpenter field goal midway through the third.
Later in the third, the Bills marched down the field and capped off the drive with just signed two weeks ago Mike Gillislee's 19-yard touchdown run. Carpenter's extra point tied the game at 20.
The Eagles came back again and settled for another field goal putting them ahead 20 - 23. The Bills got the ball back with less than two minutes to go in the game. Tyrod Taylor tried to keep the drive alive, but Ed Reynolds intercepted his pass sealing the deal for the Philadelphia Eagles.
LeSean McCoy and the BIlls failed to get a win against his old team. The loss puts the Buffalo Bills virtually out of playoff contention as they fall fo 6-7. The Eagles improved to 6-7. This would mark the 16th straight season the Bills haven't made the playoffs. The last time they were in the playoffs was 1999. In order to make the playoffs, a lot of other teams would have to lose for the Bills to get in. With a stronger AFC than NFC, that would be nearly impossible.
