On September 28, starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger went down with an ankle injury against the St. Louis Rams. The Pittsburgh Steelers tried to get a victory over the Baltimore Ravens with backup quarterback Michael Vick, but were shut down in overtime. Baltimore won 23-20 on a 52-yard field goal from Justin Tucker.

The 35-year-old Pittsburgh quarterback has played 140 career games before stepping on the field for Friday's game. Over the 140 all-time games in the NFL, Vick 22,131 yards and 131 touchdowns on 56.1 percent passing. The first overall selection in the 2001 NFL Draft, finished 19-for-26 with 124 yards through the air and one touchdown in the loss to Baltimore. He added nine carries and 33 yards on the ground.

The only passing touchdown for the Steelers (2-2) came in the early stages of the third quarter. Vick found Darrius Heyward-Bey for a score from nine yards out of the end zone. All though he was unable to find the end zone, Antonio Brown was effective on offense. He caught five passes for a team-high 42 yards.

Pittsburgh owned the first score of the game as Josh Scobee hit a 45-yard field goal. With three seconds left in the third quarter, Scobee connected once again, this time from 36 yards.

Between those two field goals, Ravens (1-3) running back Michael Campanaro rushed to the right for a nine yard touchdown, but the Steelers running back came right back. Meanwhile, Bell fought back and carried the ball for 11 yards into the end zone.

As usual, Le'Veon Bell had a great game. He carried the ball 22 times and blasted off for 129 yards and rushing touchdown. In his first week coming off suspension against the Rams, Bell only posted 62 yards and a score on 19 attempts.

The only passing touchdown from Baltimore was a 15-yard strike that was tossed from Joe Flacco to Kamar Aiken

Flacco finished 20-for-33 with 189 yards through the air, one touchdown and one interception. About 41 percent of all yards went to the hands of Aiken, who scored a touchdown to pull the Ravens within six points of the Steelers.

Baltimore running back Justin Forsett was back to his normal form with 27 carries for 150 yards to help lead the Ravens to victory. Prior to Friday, Forsett posted 124 yards on 39 carries without a touchdown coming into the Thursday night matchup with Pittsburgh.

Daryl Smith led the Baltimore defense with 13 tackles - nine solo tackles and two for a loss - in the win over the Steelers. Pittsburgh got dominant defensive help from Lawrence Timmons with 11 tackles.

Another successful defensive position player was Ross Cockrell, who had an interception and a fumble recovery. His interception came in the first quarter and was returned for 37 yards, which helped Pittsburgh punch in a score. The fumble recovery that bounced off the knee of Flacco and into the hands of Cockwell happened late in the first half to set up a field goal with time expiring.

Tucker came in very clutch Thursday night with a 40-yard field goal to pull the Ravens to a three point deficit, a game-tying field goal with three seconds remaining and the game winning 52-yard field goal in overtime.

On the other side of the ball, Scobee had two chances to give the Steelers some cushion late in the fourth quarter, but he missed both kicks. In overtime, Pittsburgh missed on two fourth down opportunities and did not get another because of Tucker's field goal to end the game.

After multiple drives for both teams were unsuccessful, Tucker hit the pivotal 52-yard field goal to send the Ravens home cheering.

Flacco even said, "Just let Tucker win the game."

Tucker accounted for the last nine points for Baltimore, while the defense was able to stop the speedy Vick, while containing Bell. It was a perfect formula and it gave the Ravens a 23-20 victory to help them avoid starting the season 0-4.

The Steelers (2-2) will travel to California to face the San Diego Chargers (1-2). Mike Tomlin, the Steelers Head Coach, will have extra time to prepare for this one as they try to get above .500 again early in the season. The game will kickoff Monday, October 12 at 8:30 PM on ESPN.

As for the Ravens (1-3), they will play host to the Cleveland Browns (1-2). Cleveland has had their share of quarterback struggles, but the Ravens have stuck with Flacco and it is already starting to pay off.
