The awards are tight early in the season at VAVEL USA. When it came time to vote for the Rookie of Week Two, it was a closely contested vote between Oakland Raiders wide receiver Amari Cooper and Washington Redskins running back Matt Jones. Not only did both rookies have wonderful games, but they also were able to get victories on Sunday for the first time in their NFL careers. When it came down to it thought, the voters gave the edge to the former Florida Gators running back in Jones.

He was impressive in helping take the load off of Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins. He was able to gain a lot on the ground with 19 carries for 123 yards and two touchdowns. It was difficult for the St. Louis Rams to find a way to stop him this week, and now he is going to have to get used to a quick turnaround this week as the 1-1 Redskins travel up to New Jersey to face the New York Giants (0-2) at Metlife Stadium this week.

It is somewhat surprising that with the big yardage total from Jones in week two, that he isn't actually the leading rusher on his team for the season through two short weeks. That title is held of course by Alfred Morris, as Morris has 180 rushing yards compared to Jones now having accumulated 151 of his own. They two headed monster at running back should have some difficulty against the Giants this week though, as they only gave up a total of 56 rushing yards against the Atlanta Falcons in week two, and only gave up 80 rushing yards when they face the Dallas Cowboys in week one, with Joseph Randle having the best game against them so far this season, getting 65 yards on 16 carries in the season opener.
