In 2012, James Jones had a year that will frequently be remembered by fans of the Green Bay Packers. He was able to get 64 catches for 784 yards, and a whopping 14 touchdowns. The following year Randall Cobb emerged in the slot and took away many of those same opportunities. Jones ended 2013 with only three touchdowns as he was headed out to become a free agent.

He signed with the Oakland Raiders, where he was operating the offense with a rookie quarterback under center, as Derek Carr started the season as the quarterback for the team. They saw him reach a career high in receptions with 73, but he only managed one game with over 100 yards receiving and six touchdowns.

This year they cut him shortly after the draft where they took Amari Cooper and they had brought in Michael Crabtree as a free agent. It took him until July 30 to sign a deal when the New York Giants brought him on with a chance to make the team.

But things didn't go so well with Offensive Coordinator Ben McAdoo calling the plays. He performed fairly well in the preseason but was cut as part of the roster reduction to 53 players.

Now it looks like things could result in a rejoining between the Packers and Jones. Clearly, Jones would like to be back as a part of the team as he is looking for a job again. Who better to throw passes to him other than Aaron Rodgers, the reigning NFL MVP? Plus, the Packers have a strong need at wide receiver as Jordy Nelson is going to be out for the year and there is not much experience between the third through fifth receivers on the roster with Ty Montgomery, Jeff Janis, and Myles White.

Are they destined to come back together? It's a possibility. But it all remains to be seen as the Packers will visit with him on Sunday, September 6 and if things seem well, they could easily offer him a contract in a hurry.
