A few weeks ago when Michael Vick was a free agent he said he had to wait for a team to call. It appears that time has finally come.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers are bringing in four-time Pro Bowl quarterback Michael Vick in for a visit. The Steelers are now looking at Vick to fill the backup quarterback void left by Bruce Gradkowski after he dislocated a finger in his left hand. He suffered the injury in the teams' game on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. The injury will likely keep him out for 3-4 weeks.

Vick, 35, spent last season with the New York Jets. It was a very disappointing year for Vick as he appeared in just 10 games and had only 604 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. It was one of the worst seasons Vick has had since entering the NFL in 2001

This landing spot seems superb for both Vick and the Steelers. His short tenure in New York was somewhat awkward as he had to both mentor and battle Geno Smith for a starting role. Also some games Vick and Smith both played for small amount of time which made for bad chemistry with other teammates. Now, if he signs with Pittsburgh he knows what his role will be; a backup quarterback behind veteran Ben Roethlisberger.

After struggling in his role last year, Vick will likely be more comfortable with the role he will potentially be given in Pittsburgh. He knows he won't be battling anybody for a starting job.

It was reported that when Vick was released from prison back in 2009, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin had interest in him, but nothing ever happened as members of the Steelers organization were against the idea of having a felon on the team. Vick ended up signing with the other Pennsylvania team, the Philadelphia Eagles.

The only other QB on the roster is third year pro, Landry Jones, who has yet to play in the regular season. Jones has looked very impressive in the preseason, but has been unable to play in the regular season due to the durability of Roethlisberger

For now, it looks like Michael Vick may be coming back into the NFL.
