VAVEL USA does not claim to be doctors by any means. But it's quite obvious that Carolina Panthers wide reciever Kelvin Benjamin was carted off the practice field early Wednesday morning with a knee injury. Benjamin appeared to go down with a non contact injury, which is never good. But the fact it was non contact hopefully slims down the chances that it's anything serious for the second year wide out from Florida State.

Regardless of if the injury isn't that serious, the Panthers probably won't play Benjamin for the rest of the preseason. They'll need they're number one guy in terms of catching the ball on the field in a hurry. As a rookie, Benjamin caught 73 passes for 1008 yards, getting into the endzone 9 times for a Panthers team which made the playoffs with a record of 7-8-1, while winning the NFC South division for the second straight year.

If Benjamin does miss significant time, it endangers the Panthers chances of grabbing the division title for a third straight year in what is already a tight division.

It already looks like Kelvin Benjamin is in for the sophomore slump. Benjamin is being sent to Charlotte for an MRI on his left knee. VAVEL USA will report back when more information is known.

Edit: Following an MRI on his left knee, Kelvin benjamin turned up with a torn ACL and will miss the entire 2015 season. A real loss for the Panthers who don't have a notable name at wide reciever behind Tedd Ginn Jr. Look for the Panthers to pick up a wide reciever who was cut during training camp in the coming weeks.
