Following reports that Geno Smith was getting in the face of former teammate IK Enemkpali which lead to him (Geno) being sucker punched, there is new information out about the altercation.

In a piece by ESPN's Rich Cimini the Jets new receiver Brandon Marshall stated "Did he put his finger in his face? No, he didn't," Marshall said on Mike & Mike on ESPN Radio. "Geno Smith, he didn't do anything wrong that day. It's just an unfortunate situation."

The fight has had some conflicting views about what truly transpired in the locker room, this being a new twist on what happened that day. This is actually good news for Geno Smith, if true, because he recently upset the organization after it was discovered that he was playing catch with a friend just two days after surgery on his jaw.

The biggest issue here is trying to figure out what actually took place the day of the incident and why are there conflicting stories about this issue. Hopefully there is not going to be a split in the locker room over this issue since players have different views over what happened. Perhaps some players saw the incident from different parts of the locker room and did not see what truly went down.

Hopefully the real story will come out soon, or just at the very least that Todd Bowles can settle what happened while keeping it from blowing up in the media more then it already has.

What this means for the Jets: Well as far as the Jets go, this is the norm, lots of debate over a quarterback and his future with the Jets. When Sanchez was the starter in New York, there were players that supported him and those who did not. This is an issue for the Jets, Todd Bowles (unlike Rex Ryan) must take a stance on this issue and ensure that his team will stand behind the starter and not worry about Geno Smith. It is time to move forward with Ryan Fitzpatrick and the organization (head coach and up) should decide on what will happen next to Geno Smith.
