Since 1969, the Pittsburgh Steelers have had just three coaches. Chuck Noll, from (1969-1991), Bill Cowher, (from 1992-2006) and Mike Tomlin. It looks that number will stay the same for some time now.

On Thursday, the Pittsburgh Steelers have announced they have extended the contract of head coach, Mike Tomlin. The deal will now keep him with the team until at least the 2018 season. The 43-year-old coach has been coach of the Steelers since 2007.

In his time in Pittsburgh, Tomlin has coached the Steelers to a very impressive regular season record of 82-46 (a winning percentage of .641). He has led Pittsburgh to four AFC North titles as head coach. In just his second year with the Steelers, he led the team to a Super Bowl victory, becoming the youngest head coach in NFL history to do so. Two years later, he led to team to another Super Bowl berth, which ended in a loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Art Rooney II, president of the Pittsburgh Steelers said in a statement, "Mike has proven he is one of the top head coaches in the National Football League, and we are confident he will continue to lead the team in our pursuit of another Super Bowl championship."

Mike Tomlin added, "I very much appreciate this contract extension, but my sole focus has been and will continue to be meeting the challenges that lie ahead for the 2015 season. These past nine years in Pittsburgh have been a wonderful experience for my family, and I look forward to pursuing what is the Steelers' goal every year -- bringing another Super Bowl championship to the City of Pittsburgh."

Just like quarterback, finiding a good head coach in the NFL can be tough, and now the Steelers have locked up their head coach just months after signing their star quarterback, and face of the franchise, Ben Roethilisberger, to a five-year extension. With the Steelers keeping their QB and coach for years to come, it is likely that the Steel City will see another Super Bowl title sometime soon.
