The New England Patriots and elite cornerback Darelle Revis appear to be parting ways as the Patriots have denied the 29-year-old's $20-million option for the 2015 season. If the Patriots had decided to pick up the $20-million option, Revis would have had a massive $25-million salary-cap hit for the 2015 season.

Revis had a below-average year -- by his standards -- in New England as he had only 47 total tackles, the lowest of his carer while playing a full season. He also had just two interceptions, matching his total in 2013 when he was with the Tampa Bay Bucaneers

Two years removed from an ACL surgey, Revis will have many suitors once free agency opens up on Tuesday.

It is not being ruled out by experts and analysts around the league that the Patriots and Revis could eventually work on a long-term deal now that the team has declined his option. One team that is expected to be a major suitor for Revis is none other than his former team, the New York Jets

Under new head coach Todd Bowles, who is a defensive-minded head coach, the Jets should be making a serious push for the veteran corner on Tuesday. However, according to ProFootballTalk, Revis would take less money in order to stay in New England, which could be a bad sign for the Jets.

Since suffering his knee injury, Revis has started all 32 regular-season games in his seasons with Tampa Bay and New England. The only question remaining about Revis is, "Who will lock up the 30-year old corner?"
