Byron Maxwell, Minnesota Vikings
Book-ending the Legion of Boom opposite Richard Sherman, Byron Maxwell may find himself on the outside looking in after the dust settles from Russell Wilson’s contract. Maxwell is an experienced corner who often covered the opposition's top receivers in man and zone coverage. As the Vikings continue to build the roster in the image of head coach Mike Zimmer, Maxwell would add much needed toughness and reliability alongside standout corner Xavier Rhodes.

Brandon Flowers, San Diego Chargers
Heading into this off-season, the Chargers will be tasked with pursuing and signing a lot of their own veterans. Among those will be Brandon Flowers. His veteran presence was amongst the most consistent on the team, and much like the Dolphins did with Brent Grimes last year, the team shouldn’t miss the opportunity to sign him to a long term deal. A secondary represented by Flowers, Varrett, and Weddle would be something like the miniature version of the Legion of Boom, Southwest.

Tramon Williams, New Orleans Saints
Williams’ offseason began in a flash as he narrowly failed to interrupt a Russell Wilson pass to Jermaine Kearse, resulting in a heart-breaking overtime loss in the NFC championship game. Last off-season, the Packers committed to Sam Shields long term and have a number of young corners in waiting. Williams, a Louisiana native, may find a new home with the Saints, whom could use the services provided by a veteran cornerback.

Antonio Cromartie, Indianapolis Colts
Seemingly turning in one good season for every bad one, Antonio Cromartie finds himself with a stock arrow pointing up after his 2014 campaign. Arguably outplaying teammate Patrick Peterson, Cromartie will likely try to cash in on a multi-year deal with a contender. The Colts wouldn’t mind pairing Cromartie with Vontae Davis, making for one of the league’s most potent cornerback duos.

Kareem Jackson, Houston Texans
Lost in the J.J. Watt hysteria that consumes the NFL, Kareem Jackson is the man behind the man in Houston, both literally and figuratively. At only 26 years old, Jackson will merit a long term deal that should make him a Texan throughout his prime. He will be an essential building block to a team on the cusp of playoff contention.

Devin McCourty, New England Patriots
Like many safeties, McCourty’s impact happens offscreen. Not one to attract much fanfare, (aside from those well acted Palmer’s Cocoa Butter ads) McCourty has quietly become a large part of the Patriots’ defensive identity. Even with a potential Revis deal that will push the Patriots close to the salary cap, there’s little doubt New England is counting on McCourty being a Patriot next year.

Rahim Moore, Denver Broncos
As the Broncos front office waits for the big Manning domino to drop, they are likely already making moves to secure some of their young talent. Known for narrowly missing tipping a pass against Baltimore in the 2013 playoffs, Moore has emerged as one of league’s premier free safeties. If the Broncos retain Moore, the team will have a defense future anchored by Chris Harris, Von Miller, and Rahim Moore, three of the best defenders under 25 years old.

Antrel Rolle, Tennessee Titans
One of the preeminent faces of both of Giants’ Super Bowl runs was safety Antrel Rolle. The former cornerback has established himself as one of the best coverage safeties in the league, and has been the emotional leader of the team since his arrival in 2010. The Giants may not opt to re-up their deal with the 2-time All Pro after he turned 32 this past December. Titans defensive coordinator, Rey Horton, was a former cornerback and defensive back coach who values Rolle’s talent, experience, and his passionate approach to the game.

*Darrelle Revis, New England Patriots
While not technically a free agent, the Patriots are on the hook for a $25 million hit if they don’t extend or release Revis this offseason. Revis, who was accused of attaining mercenary status at the start of last season, may get the longer term deal that he longed for in New York. While he will turn 30 during the summer, he appeared healthy this past season after a sojourn in Tampa Bay.
