On Saturday night, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was named the 2014 NFL MVP. Heading into Saturday evening's NFL Honors awards show, the question was whether it would be Rodgers or Houston Texans defensive end JJ Watt accepting the award at the end of the night. In the end, by a 31-13 voting margin, the award went to the quarterback.

While not enjoying the same mindblowing statistics he did in his first MVP season, Rodgers had a unique season. Not only did he throw for 4,381 yards and 38 touchdowns, but Rodgers only threw five interceptions.

With a healthy Rodgers at the helm, Green Bay was nearly unbeatable and they were never beaten at home. Late in the season, after Rodgers suffered a calf injury, he continued to play on just one leg. It was then that it became apparent just how important Rodgers' presence on the field was for the entire team.

In their Week 17 finale against the Detroit Lions, he returned from said injury in the second half and it was as the Packers had seen a general return back from the dead on the field of battle. Their level of play immediately rose, and they went on to be crowned division champions.

Two weeks later, he repeated the feat without ever leaving the game. While playing on just one leg against the Dallas Cowboys, he completed 24 of 35 passes for 316 yards and three touchdowns. He was unable to perform to the same level the following week as Green Bay capitulated against the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game, but for what he did throughout the regular season Rodgers was named the winner.
