Arizona Cardinals' QB Drew Stanton is completely ruled out for the weekend game but the team's head coach Bruce Arians said he's working hard to have him as a starter once the postseason starts.

"He's going to practice some week and we'll see how it goes", Arians told SiriusXM NFL Radio in an interview. "I do not plan on playing him this week unless it's absolutely necessary."

Logan Thomas will start the regular-season finale against the San Francisco 49ers and he's expected to, at least, play the first half of the game. Ryan Lindley will be available to relieve him in case he doesn't have a good outing.

A loss against the 49ers appears to be quite likely and if that's the case, Arizona is expected to enter the Wild Card round to play in the first weekend of January. If that's the case, coach Arians will expect to have Stanton (7 TDs, 5 INTs) as the team will have a realistic chance to get a positive result with him under center.
