The worst fears for fans of the Kansas City Chiefs were confirmed as tests revealed that safety Eric Berry has Hodgkin's lymphoma. This comes on the heels of Berry complaining of chest pain after Kansas City's game against the Oakland Raiders back on November 20th. Prior tests showed that a mass in his chest but it was not known exactly what the cause was.

Berry's doctor, Dr. Christopher Flowers, released a statement through the Kansas City organization, "This is a diagnosis that is very treatable and potentially curable with standard chemotherapy approaches."

"The goal of Mr. Berry's treatment is to cure his lymphoma and we are beginning that treatment now." He added.

Berry will miss the rest of the season and his availability going into the 2015 Regular Season is in doubt at the moment but none of that really matters right now. We at VAVEL USA send our well wishes to Eric Berry, his family, and the entire Kansas City Chiefs organization.

The team is selling t-shirts with the motto "Be Bold, Be Brave, Be Berry." 100% of the proceeds are going to the Eric Berry Foundation. If you would like to purchase a shirt, you can do so here.

Kansas City faces a very tough test at home against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. The Chiefs are in desperate need of a win to keep themselves in the playoff chase. They are one game back of the wild-card spots but are behind in most tie-breaker categories. They finish the season with a road game at Pittsburgh followed by a home game against San Diego.
