Jadeveon Clowney was chosen by the Houston Texans as the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. This pick makes him the first defensive player drafted number one overall since Mario Williams in 2006. Clowney was described by Mel Kiper Jr as  "Clowney's a rare talent, basically to the defensive end spot what Andrew Luck and RG3 were to the quarterback position, these type of prospects just don't come along very often."

Clowney has been dealing with a nagging knee injury issue all season and had torn his meniscus in the 2nd quarter of the Texans game against the Washington Redskins. He had surgery to repair the meniscus on September 8, 2014. Now that he is still having issues with the injury, the Texans and Head Coach Bill O'Brien have decided to place him on Injured Reserve and give him the time and rest to have his knee cleared up and healed correctly.

This means, though that they will have to wait until next season to see what the pairing of J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney will look like and how it will benefit their defense. But, when asked about it, Coach O'Brien has said that this will benefit Clowney and the Texans in the long run, which is why they did it.

So, for those Texans fans who want to see what Clowney can do, it will have to wait until next season but hopefully he will be able to show what he can do once he has this surgery and is given the season and offseason to recover.
