"We want Bortles! We want Bortles! We want Bortles!"

Those were the chants after another three and out from a Chad Henne-led offense. The fans were down and out, angry at the coaching staff and the offense for the poor performance of the Jacksonville Jaguars from the first half. Worse yet, Andrew Luck led the Indianapolis Colts to a 30-0 lead at the half.

The fans though were enlightened, looking up at the new, huge, renovated scoreboards at EverBank Field to see a certain player with a helmet. Number 5. Blake Bortles. The fans gave a standing ovation for the rookie. This was a very enthusiastic crowd, and after all, how would anyone be after a 30-0 deficit at the half, but their cheers weren't wasted throughout the rest of the game.

The rookie quarterback made plays on his first drive, he rolled out of the pocket and avoided two Colts defenders to give a deep pass to the Fullback Will Ta'ufo'ou and even ran for a first down for 12 yards, but was called back for illegal hands to the face. Even after the Jags punted the ball after that drive, the defense finally forced Luck off the field and made them punt the ball away for the first time of the days.

The game progressed and he made plays for the Jaguars, including a 20 yard run and was slinging the ball all over the field. Despite 2 interceptions, with one of them being returned for a touchdown, Blake Bortles threw 2 touchdowns to Allen Hurns on a catch-and-run for over 60 yards and a fake spike that led to a 10 yard touchdown pass to Cecil Shorts III at their last drive of the game. They actually moved the ball down the field in the second half and it seemed that the Jaguars gained new life with Bortles at the helm, after a 0-30 in the first half, and then 17-14 in the second.

The game was over, Bortles finished with 223 yards with the 2 TDs and INTs. The press conference was starting and Gus Bradley officially announced that Blake Bortles would be named starter against San Diego.

"He has a way of lifting the team," Gus Bradley said during the presser.

Even Jaguars General Manager Dave Caldwell and Owner Shad Khan attended the presser. With Shad Khan saying he was "much better now. I've seen the future."

But even Blake Bortles himself wasn't all too satisfied with his job-winning performance today against the Colts. He said he was "average." "You can't throw 2 picks in one half."

The chips are now set on the table for GM Dave Caldwell and HC Gus Bradley with their Franchise QB in sooner than they would've liked. The road isn't easy, however, as they need to travel West to face off against the San Diego Chargers. Even some Chargers players were surprised to hear the news about Bortles getting the nod, with Pro Bowl CB Brandon Flowers saying, "He can do it all."

Momentum may now be on the Jaguars side for the future. Now they have to face the undefeated 3-0 Chargers in San Diego, in which will be a hostile environment for the young Jaguars team. The road seems to be bright, even with tough games coming up ahead with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Tennessee Titans, after the trip from the West Coast. Bortles seems to be the man for the Jags, fans are happy, and now he and the rest of the team needs to put the first three weeks in the headlights and move forward to create something special in Jacksonville for years to come.
