Buccaneers starting quarterback Josh McCown will miss a few weeks with thumb injury. McCown hit his thumb on the defenders helmet while being sacked versus Atlanta on Thursday night. However, with the Buccaneers schedule he may only miss a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers next Sunday afternoon. He possibly miss more games depending on severity of this injury. According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, McCown will be visiting a hand specialist on Monday. "McCown, who has a significant sprain on the thumb on his right throwing hand, will see a hand specialist on Monday. All options remain open for the Bucs, but they could soon be preparing for backup Mike Glennon to be a longer-term option."

Josh McCown hasn't been very impressive this year. In fact, he's  tied with lead the league in interceptions thrown after playing on Thursday. In three games that he's played he's thrown four interceptions. When he played for the Bears, last season he only had one interception in eight games. Thursday at Atlanta he threw an interception that lead to a Falcons defensive touchdown

Mike Glennon will be set to be the backup. The other backup quarterback to him is Mike Kafka, but he is on the practice squad. It's unclear now if he'll make the active roster as a backup. Really, if you're a Buccaneers fan, the McCown injury maybe better news. Mike Glennon is the quarterback the fans want. This may give him a chance to shine and prove that he's a starting quarterback. Lovie Smith has said he's the quarterback of the future however, this may prove him wrong, he may be the quarterback of the present.
