The Johnny Cleveland era started at Detroit's Ford Field on Saturday night with every eye in the football world on him. If you are already tired of Johnny Manziel updates, get used to them. After being drafted by one of the most success-starved franchises in all of sports, the city of Cleveland is a buzz with Johnny Football, and why not?! The Browns lost 13-12, but it was an exciting game in Manziel's debut.

Those of you who are rooting against the kid, might be in for a long fall. Manziel's night started with an uneventful three and out. However, in the second half, he showed flashes of what earned him the Heisman Trophy in 2012. Manziel lead the Browns down, in the first possession of the second half, to a successful field goal. The second Brown's possession was a thrilling drive that ended with a Dion Lewis fumble on the Lions' 30 yard line. That was preceded by a decent drive that Johnny Manziel extended by scrambling for a first down on a 4th down play.

The third possession of the second half, despite penalties, had promise. Manziel showed off his very live and accurate arm. Unfortunately, two of Manziel's receivers, Willie Snead and Jonathan Krause, could not pull in grabs that would have moved the chains down the field.

Johnny Manziel ended his NFL debut with completing 7 of his 11 passing attempts with 63 yards and 27 yards rushing on 6 carries. Two of his passes should have been caught and that 4th down scramble should have been a dump pass instead. Overall, it was a great debut. This, by no means, has Johnny Manziel heading to Canton, Ohio to be enshrined. At the same token, he proved that he belongs. If Johnny Cleveland continues this kind of play, there is no way he will be sitting on the bench on Sunday, September 7 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
