The Denver Broncos will have some company during training camp this August. It was announced on Wednesday that the Houston Texans will be practicing with the Broncos at their Dove Valley practice facility from August 19-21 and then face each other in a preseason game at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Saturday, August 23.

The Denver Broncos are excited to have somebody in a different uniform to go up against toward the end of training camp.

“I think you spend a lot of time working against each other and I think it’s kind of a good break for both sides to compete against a different style of offense and defense, as well as different players,” Broncos Head Coach John Fox said.

The Texans, with new head coach Bill O’Brien at the helm, are hoping to turn around a disastrous 2013 season that saw their Super Bowl hopes vanquish after a 2-14 season. With the number one draft pick they acquired LB Jadeveon Clowney to team up with DE J.J. Watt in the Texans’ pass rush.

Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase believes going against the Texans’ pass rushing duo will be helpful for Peyton Manning and the NFL’s number one offense to matchup against in training camp.

"It will be good exposure for us because it’s a different defense than what we do," Gase said. "We’ll see some looks that we probably wouldn’t see in a game. They’ll probably be doing some things they want to experiment with in practice just to see how it does against another team so for us it will be good experience for us and going against those players, that pass rush especially, that will get us ready to go for the season.”

The Texans offense will arrive in Denver with new quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick who they acquired in costless agency from the Buffalo Bills. Fitzpatrick will quarterback an offense that has talented, though disgruntled wide receiver Andre Johnson and veteran running back Arian Foster. An offense that will face a revamped Broncos secondary and LB Von Miller who is coming off a torn ACL.

“I am (looking forward to facing the Texans)," defensive lineman Malik Jackson said. "I’m interested to see how it’s going to work with the team being here and getting some pass rushes against some other people, you know, stop working against our guys. I'm excited for it."

This will be the first time since 2008 when the Dallas Cowboys came to town with HBO’s Hard Knocks in tow that the Broncos will be facing another team in training camp. The Broncos previously practiced with the Houston Texans during training camp in Houston in 2003 and 2005.

The Texans will be the only visitors allowed in to the Broncos training camp practices this year. Due to ongoing construction at Dove Valley, fans will not be able to attend any practices. However, the Broncos will be moving three days of their training camp to Sports Authority Field at Mile High on July 27, July 30, and August 2 which will be open to the general public.
