O'Neal played in 13 games for UCLA, averaging almost 11 minutes a game. The LA native averaged 2.2 points and 2.9 rebounds before announcing in January 2020 his decision to transfer.

During his high school career, Shareef was a force playing for Crossroads at Santa Monica, California. O'Neal was ranked in the top 30s in his high school class by ESPN.com where he averaged 27.6 points and 17.3 rebounds per game during his senior season, and led the team to a CIF Division II state title.

Shaquille O'Neal, Shareef's dad, played at LSU prior to having his great career in the NBA.

At Baton Rouge, Shaq was a two-time All-American, two-time SEC Player of the Year, and received NCAA men's basketball player of the year trophy in 1991.

Also, Shareef's younger sister, Mimi, has committed to play for the Women's Basketball team at LSU next year.
