The Arkansas Razorbacks came into week 11 as 7 1/2 point underdogs against a LSU team that lost 30-16 at the hands of the Alabama Crimson Tide and kept Heisman trophy candidate Leonard Fournette to only 31 yards rushing the previous week. The Hogs were coming off a incredible overtime win over the Ole Miss Rebels in Oxford, Mississippi where they converted a 4th-and-25 on a crazy lateral that would continue a drive that eventually lead to a touchdown and a game winning two point conversion by quarterback Brandon Allen. The two would be battling for the "Golden Boot", a 4-foot golden trophy that had the states of Arkansas and Louisiana combined and looked like a boot, hence "Golden Boot".

Arkansas struck first with a 52-yard catch-and-run by wide receiver Dominique Reed. The Razorback defense quickly gave their offense the ball back after the following LSU drive stalled in six plays. Five plays later Arkansas running back Alex Collins busted a run open that resulted in a 80-yard touchdown and gave the Hogs a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter. Several drives later, after neither team did anything, the Tigers had the ball and continued to dig their own grave. Quarterback Brandon Harris scrambled out to his right, deep in their own territory, where he would fumble after being sacked by Arkansas linebacker Dre Greenlaw. Two plays later Alex Collins would rush for his second and final touchdown of the night and give the Razorbacks a 21-0 lead with 3:55 remaining in the second quarter. The Tigers would respond with a 9-play 92-yard touchdown drive and give them some hope going into halftime down 21-7 and knowing they would receive the second half kickoff.

The Tigers showed some life on the first drive after receiving the second half kickoff. WIth Fournette leading the way, LSU marched 67 yards on eight plays and scored a touchdown to bring the game within grasp as the Hogs lead 21-14. The defense come up big forcing Arkansas to settle for a field goal after the Arkansas offense drove down the field, but the LSU offense again disappeared with two six play drives ending in punts. Arkansas would get the ball with 11:05 remaining in the game. After a 11-yard run by running back Kody Walker, wide receiver Jared Cornelius would run for a 69-yard touchdown on a end-around to give the Razorbacks a 31-14 lead. After two  punts, one by each team, LSU would get the ball back with 4:37 left in the game to somehow work out a miracle. The Tigers would drive down the field to only hammer in the final nail in the coffin as Brandon Harris would throw an interception in the endzone. The Hogs would eventually run the clock out and win 31-14.

LSU left the game 27-3 on games coming after a loss during the Les Miles era. All three of those loses came at the hands of Arkansas.

Leonard Fournette

After being held to only 31 yards on 19 carries the previous week Leonard Fournette was looking to bounce back, unfortunately poor blocking would hold him back and not let him come out "guns blazing". Fournette would start off slow as he only carried the ball nine times for 28 yards on LSU's first five drives. His numbers would improve to 19 carries for 91 yards and a touchdown by the end of the game but it wasn't anywhere close the video game numbers that he put up prior to the Alabama game.

Alex Collins

Collins carried the ball three times on the Hogs opening drive but at the end of the third carry he fumbled the ball near midfield and LSU recovered.  Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema clearly sent a message to the junior running back about ball security as he would sit out the next three plays even though one was a 3rd-and-2. Collins would run for a 80-yard touchdown two drives later and would end the day with 16 carries for 141 yards and two touchdowns.
