A sixty-two point second half by the Ole Miss Rebels capped off a stunning night for them as they came back from seventeen down to knock off the Brigham Young Cougars in the First Four game between two eleven seeds the. BYU dominated the first half led by Chase Fischer and Tyler Haws as they combined for 36 points, outscoring the Rebels by four. A key factor in that first half was that BYU made ten of fifteen attempts from three.

Things began to turnaround for both teams in the second half, as Ole Miss forced more turnovers leading to much easier buckets for them. Stefan Moody improved on his first half play by getting hot in the second half, and he also would be the main man to dish it out down under to MJ Rhett. Once Moody gave them the lead with a three at the 7:47 mark in the second half, they would only surrender the lead once on their way to a 94-90 victory.

Both teams struggled from the field in the first few minutes, but Chase Fischer would score the first eleven points from the field for BYU getting them out to a quick start. Ole Miss would cut the deficit to one, 19-18, thanks to a Moody three, but the Cougars would outscore them 30 to 12 throughout the rest of the first half. Out of those thirty points, Tyler Haws had seventeen of them to give BYU a 49-32 halftime lead.

Kyle Collinsworth was scoreless in the first half but was hampered when he hurt his knee and ended up testing out his knee on the bike in the locker room to see if he was ready after halftime. Ole Miss' poor shooting was the reason the main reason they had such a large deficit because they pulled in nine offensive rebounds in the first half, but they could not cash in on many opportunities.

Ole Miss started out the second half very well outscoring BYU 12-4 to cut the deficit down to nine. Kyle Collinsworth finally put some points up on the board in the second half to try and keep the Cougars up double digits, but Andy Kennedy's squad would not back down and kept chipping away at the lead. For about a two and a half minute stretch, Stefan Moody and MJ Rhett would dominate the game. Rhett would have two monster plays plus fouls on both plays to give the Rebels a couple of massive three point plays, and Moody would give them the lead, 70-68, with a three of his own. Rhett would throw it down once more to force Dave Rose to take a timeout for BYU and give Ole Miss a four-point lead.

BYU would not just give this game to Ole Miss though. HawsKaufusi, and Fischer would all come up with three-point plays of their own to put them two, but Newby would tie it up at eighty a piece. LaDarius White would help open up a five-point lead for Ole Miss with a three, but Fischer would nail a three from way outside to cut the lead to two.

With just over thirty seconds left, Sebastian Saiz was left alone under the basket to give the Rebels a four-point lead, and missed threes by Haws and Bartley left only ten seconds left as Newby's free throws would give them a six-point lead. Haws nailed a three with eight seconds to cut the lead to 93-90.

Summers would be fouled and a little tension was created when he missed the first free throw, but he would coolly sink his second with 2.4 seconds left to ice the game for Ole Miss. The victory sent Ole Miss into the field of 64 setting up a showdown with sixth-seeded Xavier on Thursday in Jacksonville.
